This wide field picture shows the H-Alpha (ionized hydrogen) regions of the milkyway in the constellation cygnus. There are a number of popular deep sky objects in it, like the north america nebula, the pelican nebula, the crescent nebula and many more.

Cygnus is a northern constellation. It was one of Ptolemy's 48 constellations, and is also one of the 88 modern constellations. Because of the pattern of its main stars, it is sometimes known as the Northern Cross (in contrast to the Southern Cross).
